【Laiwo Medical: Knowledge Sharing】During the cold season, your favorite things may all be wrong

Think wrapping yourself up in "Zongzi" and surrounding the heat source all the time is the correct way to open it in the cold season? In fact, many people fall into the misconception of "exerting too much force" when it comes to keeping warm, seemingly isolating themselves from the cold, but unknowingly plunging their bodies into another crisis.
Skin to skin heating, beware of "low-temperature burns"
In winter, many people become "loyal fans" of electric blankets, keeping them on all night long; Warm babies are covered with warmth around their waist, abdomen, and knees, providing warmth wherever they go. But many people don't know that prolonged exposure to these high-temperature heat sources not only easily leads to hidden low-temperature burns, but also quietly weakens the body's "warmth retention instinct". The body is wrapped in external heat sources for a long time, and its ability to generate heat independently will gradually decrease. Once it leaves the heat source, it is particularly susceptible to catching a cold.
Suggestion: When using an electric blanket, try to only preheat the bed and turn it off before going to bed; Warm babies should not be directly applied to the skin, and it is best not to use it for more than 4 hours each time.
Greedy for hot baths, wash away the 'skin armor'
When the weather is cold and the ground is freezing, taking a hot bath can make you feel comfortable all over. However, in order to pursue warmth, extending the bath time to more than 20 minutes can actually harm the skin. Hot water can excessively wash away the sebum on the surface of the skin. After this "natural protective film" is damaged, the skin's ability to retain water decreases, and dryness and itching become more severe, even leading to peeling and redness.
Suggestion: Control the temperature of the shower water at around 40 ℃ for no more than 15 minutes, and apply body lotion promptly after taking a shower to lock in moisture.
Close doors and windows tightly, lock your health in filth
Many families close their doors and windows tightly during the day and night, leaving no gaps. But if there is no ventilation all day long, the indoor air will become polluted, and the concentration of dust, bacteria, and viruses will continue to increase. Especially when family members live together in the same room, it is more likely to cross infect, causing colds and respiratory discomfort.
Suggestion: Choose at least noon or afternoon when the temperature is slightly higher, and open windows for 10-15 minutes of ventilation to create air convection.
Forgetting to drink water, my body is secretly 'thirsty'
In winter, there is less sweating and less obvious thirst, and many people cannot drink a glass of water in a day. But the loss of body water has never decreased. Breathing and skin evaporation consume water, and long-term hidden dehydration not only makes the skin drier and damages the oral mucosa, but also affects metabolism and increases blood viscosity.
Suggestion: Drink 1500-2000 milliliters of water proactively every day, take small sips and drink slowly. Do not wait until you are thirsty before drinking. You can also drink some warm soup or honey water to replenish water. Laiwo Medical kindly reminds you that although the Great Cold is cold, warmth is never built up by "covering" and "scalding", but by finding a balance between moderation and science. May we stay warm and at ease during this coldest time, waiting for the winter to fade away and the spring to warm up.
